Our strategic approach centered on the destination rather than the journey—focusing on what our community deserves rather than what it lacks. This thinking led us to "Your Joy Over Everything," a powerful rallying cry that became the foundation of our visual approach. The visual identity system embraces the diversity of the Black experience through a vibrant spectrum, transitioning from deep blue to rich orange. This color journey metaphorically represents the path from current state to joy, while acknowledging that the Black community isn't monolithic. We developed a comprehensive design system including custom typography, photography direction, and graphic elements that feel both institutionally grounded and culturally authentic. To ensure the foundation could effectively carry its message forward, we created a complete brand toolkit including guidelines, social media assets, and a robust library of backgrounds and design elements. Every aspect of the system was crafted to support the foundation's mission while maintaining a focus on the ultimate destination: joy in all its forms.
